Down with the kids? 20 Temmuz 2010 Salý It’s really not as much fun as it sounds.
|
A thousand kids can’t be wrong can they, thought DJ as we stood and watched the sea of hands in the air at Elements, the one day ‘festival’ in Festival City’s car park.
Unfortunately they can. What was billed as a music festival was in reality an underage al fresco school disco and the only people over 21 were trying to fi gure out the drinks tokens could be bought so they could dull the pain.
From the outset, the music line up for Elements (TocaDisco, Sean Kingston, T-Pain and Gorillaz Sound System) seemed rather, ahem, eclectic and mthat’s not even taking into account never-ran acts like Sash! (who’s so unbearably dull, he has to come with his own exclamation mark) and the Guru Josh Project. Things weren’t helped by the organisers’ total inability to let us know the times of any artist - we only wanted to watch TocaDisco and the Gorillaz Soundsystem. So, we headed off to fi nd a drink only to be be confused by two things: we could not fi nd the bar or the ticket counter for love, nor money (and we offered both) while we couldn’t work out why a papier mache Burj Khalifa had been erected behind the stage. Odd.
With our patience at an end after what felt like days of interminable music - and with lots of monkey business, but sadly no Gorillaz - the highlight of the evening was a kind musician called Claude who offered to share his warm vodka and coke with us. We wouldn’t like to say Elements is the worst music ‘festival’ we’ve mever attended, but oh wait hang on, it is.
